Alka-Seltzer XS tablets are for fast and effective relief of general pain such as migraine, period pains, rheumatic and muscular pain, toothache, sore throat, nerve pain and the symptomatic relief of colds and flu. Alka-Seltzer XS tablets contain five active ingredients, aspirin, paracetamol, caffeine, sodium hydrogencarbonate and citric acid. The aspirin, paracetamol and caffeine combine to relieve pain and inflammation. Sodium hydrogen carbonate and citric acid create antacids when dissolved in water which helps to neutralise stomach acid and relieve the symptoms of heartburn and indigestion. Alka-Seltzer XS effervescent tablets are most effective in relieving headaches accompanied by an upset stomach, usually after over-indulgence in food and drink, but can be used to relieve many other types of aches and pains.
