Description

Key Benefits The ActiLymph leg ulcer hosiery kit from L&R is a hosiery alternative to bandages for healing leg ulcers. Two stockings are worn one on top of the other. A 10mmHg liner followed by a below knee, open toed class 2 European. Classification garment (23-32mmHg). The combined compression allows leg ulcer healing without the bulk of bandages. Suitable post healing for patients with a history of leg ulcer reoccurrence. Indications for use Treatment of venous leg ulcers The control and reduction of oedema and lymphoedema Prevention of recurrence of venous leg ulcers and severe varicose veins A cosmetically acceptable alternative to compression bandages Contraindications This system may be unsuitable where there is heavy exudate and for large wounds For large or irregular shaped limbs it may be more appropriate to use compression bandages Padding and bandages are recommended for patients with very small limbs or with bony prominences Lymphoedematous limbs should be treated with short stretch bandages eg Actico® prior to going into the leg ulcer hosiery kit Diabetic patients – unless after specialist referral and under strict supervision Arterial insufficiency / arterial disease / ischaemia according to vascular assessment. ABPI of less than 0.8 and greater than 1.3 unless after specialist referral and under strict supervision and regular follow up Congestive cardiac failure as compression could lead to cardiac overload Peripheral neuropathy Rheumatoid arthritis Known sensitivity to the fabric of the stockings Not everyone with a leg ulcer is suitable for the hosiery kit and some people may need to wear bandages. It will depend on the size and shape of your leg and the ulcer. Note: Daylong recommends that you contact a nurse, GP or pharmacist to ensure that compression hosiery is appropriate for you. If so, you will then need to be measured in order to obtain the correct size which will ensure that the hosiery works correctly and feels comfortable.
